Read their home chapter

Where does their expedition come home?

Open a state's own sample page to read its map, source-linked notes and selected spreads. Each page has a reading activity and a link to make an Atlas with that state selected.

A place they can point to and call home

Choose your child's home state when you start the book. Their state appears on the title page and has a home pin on the cover. The final chapter brings the broader American expedition back to a particular place, with a relief map, landscape and wildlife.

What the state choice changes

The chosen state changes the home-state chapter. It does not replace every habitat in the national section with local scenery, and it does not make a custom city or street atlas. The Colorado pages shown here are a sample of that chapter format.

Choose a chapter, then check delivery

All 50 states are available as chapter choices. Delivery currently covers the contiguous United States and Washington, DC. Selecting an Alaska or Hawaii chapter does not extend the delivery area. Check the shipping address before ordering a gift.
