Inside the Flora + Fauna edition
Follow the flowers all the way below the soil.
The optional upgrade adds 26 plants on 8 extra spreads inside the same hardcover. Here is one of those spreads.
Follow a plant below the soil
The Flora + Fauna edition adds plant spreads. This one connects flowers, leaves, pods and the underground stem in one continuous illustration.
A stem underground
Common milkweed grows from a deep rhizome, a stem that runs underground.
Leaves in opposite pairs
Its broad, egg-shaped to oval leaves grow in opposite pairs.
Start at the flowers and follow the stem all the way down to the deep rhizome. The enlarged details help you examine small features; they are not to scale.
